The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) was established in 1915, during World War 1, when a group of over a thousand women from many different nations went to The Hague to discuss how to end the war and ensure peace. For over 100 years WILPF have been working globally to ensure lasting peace and freedom. It is the oldest international women’s peace organisation in the world. WILPF Australia was established by 1920 with branches in NSW, Tasmania, Victoria, and Queensland.
