The National Aboriginal Education Committee (NAEC) was established in 1977. The Committee was established to ensure a national Aboriginal voice in the development and implementation of Aboriginal education programs, initiatives and policies. The NAEC contributed significantly to educational outcomes for Aboriginal people that continue to exist, even though the NAEC was abolished in 1989.
