Short description
The Australian Esperanto Association (AEA) has a history dating back to the late 19th century. Established officially in 1911, it advanced Esperanto, the international language of understanding within Australia. Over the years, AEA has hosted numerous congresses and events, rejuvenating its activities in the 1950s. In 1976 and 1988, it hosted Pacific Congresses, drawing attendees from around the world. A major achievement was hosting the 82nd World Congress of Esperanto in Adelaide in 1997, with over a thousand participants from 54 countries. Today, AEA remains active and affiliated with global Esperanto organizations.
